Overview

Continuing education is a mandatory requirement for registrants renewing on or after July 1, 2026. The education requirement is met by completing REVS (Raising Excellence in Vehicle Sales, OMVIC’s in-house courses) or the MVDA Key Elements Course (delivered through Georgian College). If the education requirement is not completed by your renewal date, your registration will expire and you will not be permitted to trade in motor vehicles until it is reinstated.

A message from the Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement

The Honourable Stephen Crawford, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, shares his remarks on the launch of continuing education, highlighting its importance in strengthening professionalism, consumer protection, and industry standards across Ontario’s motor vehicle sales sector.

Who must complete continuing education

For dealer registrations, renewal cannot proceed until continuing education has been completed annually by:

  • All Persons in Charge (PIC) registered under the dealer, and
  • At least one director, officer, partner, or sole proprietor, unless that individual is already a PIC.

Note: For dealer classes that are subject to exemptions relating to salespersons (i.e., fleet lessors and, in certain circumstances, lease finance dealers), the education must be completed by at least one director, officer, partner, or sole proprietor.

For salesperson registrations, renewal cannot proceed until continuing education is completed every two years.
