Compensation Fund Board of Trustees

The Motor Vehicle Dealers Compensation Fund board of trustees meets a minimum of six times a year, during which claims are reviewed for eligibility and can be approved in full, partial, deferred or denied. Claims that have been denied can be appealed before the License Appeal Tribunal (LAT).

Call for Applications: Motor Vehicle Dealers Compensation Fund Trustees

The Motor Vehicle Dealers Compensation Fund (MVDCF) is seeking applications from experienced motor vehicle industry registrants.

Commitment

Trustees are appointed for three-year terms and attend six to eight scheduled board meetings annually, each lasting approximately three hours. Trustees may be asked to participate on committees, as required. Trustees are asked to prepare for meetings and to contribute to the discussion and decision-making process.

Compensation

Trustees receive per diems for meetings attended and reimbursement for all reasonable out-of-pocket expenses related to board and committee work subject to OMVIC’s Board Remuneration Policy and Travel and Meal Expense Reimbursement Policy.

About the Motor Vehicle Dealers Compensation Fund

The Motor Vehicle Dealers Compensation Fund is a consumer protection program financed by Ontario’s registered motor vehicle dealers. Should a consumer have an unresolved complaint with a motor vehicle purchase or lease agreement, then the consumer may have access to the compensation fund which provides financial assistance to consumers who make a valid claim for a vehicle transaction against a registered dealer.
