Overview

REVS stands for Raising Excellence in Vehicle Sales and is the new branded name for OMVIC’s in-house continuing education courses.

Key details about REVS:

  • Access to REVS will apply to registrants who are renewing on or after July 1, 2026
  • REVS is delivered completely online – access through the OMVIC portal.
  • Approximately 4–6 hours on average; completion is self-paced within the 90-day window.
  • Courses are modular and self-paced, allowing registrants to save progress and return later.
  • Assessments at the end of each course (up to 3), with an 80% pass requirement (unlimited attempts).
  • Cost: $99 (not subject to GST/HST), payable within the 90-day window before renewal.
  • Tied to registration renewal: dealers complete every year, salespersons every two years.
  • No preparation is required — all learning materials are provided within the learning management system.
  • Any form of cheating or misconduct during the courses or assessments may result in administrative action.
  • Registrants must complete attestation to confirm they will be the only person present to complete the course and assessment.

REVS course content

The REVS curriculum outlines the core knowledge and competencies expected of registrants, with each course focusing on key regulatory, ethical, and operational requirements within Ontario’s motor vehicle sales industry. The following summaries highlight the learning objectives associated with each course.

The Application of the Law course is designed to help you understand the key laws that apply to motor vehicle sales, the consequences of breaching those laws, and how they apply in real-world situations through practical case studies. It also provides a clear overview of OMVIC’s role, structure, and how it oversees the motor vehicle sales industry.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Explain the purpose of key legislation and how it is organized.
  • Identify your responsibilities under the MVDA and other applicable laws.
  • Summarize OMVIC’s regulatory mandate, scope and authority.

The Ethics and Professionalism course is designed to provide registrants with a clear understanding of ethical standards, including professional conduct, in the motor vehicle sales industry.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Explain the Code of Ethics and its applications.
  • Understand the role of the Discipline and Appeals Tribunals.
  • Describe professional conduct in digital interactions.

The Financial Responsibilities course will help you better understand your obligations related to advertising, disclosures, and financial requirements, in order to maintain compliance while trading in the motor vehicle sales industry.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Explain the difference between compliant and non-compliant advertising and disclosure practices.
  • Determine the consequences of non-compliance with advertising and disclosure requirements.

Registering for REVS

Registration is completed through the OMVIC Portal by selecting REVS Registration from the navigation menu. REVS becomes available 90 days before your renewal date.

Once payment is processed, registrants will be redirected to the portal’s main page and will receive an email within a few hours with instructions on how to access their REVS courses.

Compatibility and photo verification

To avoid issues during login and verification, ensure that a Windows based desktop or laptop is being used when completing registration and payment in the OMVIC portal. Your camera will also be used during assessments to confirm your identity. A device with a camera is required.
