To sell vehicles in Ontario you must be registered with OMVIC. Registering is simple and we can support you through the process. New applicants for registration must complete the OMVIC Automotive Certification Course which is offered through the Automotive Business School of Canada (ABSC) at Georgian College.

Business and operations

  • Keep a record of each vehicle bought and sold
  • Operate from a viable place
  • Follow responsible advertising practices
  • Ensure salespeople are properly registered

Disputes and enforcement

  • Your registration can be denied, revoked or suspended

Continuing education

Continuing education is a mandatory requirement for registrants renewing on or after July 1, 2026. The education requirement is met by completing REVS (Raising Excellence in Vehicle Sales, OMVIC’s in-house courses) or the MVDA Key Elements Course (delivered through Georgian College).
