Application and Renewal Timing

Applications and renewals submitted on or before August 31, 2025, follow the current fee structure.

Applications and renewals submitted on or after September 1, 2025, follow the new fee structure.

Renewal fees are based on the renewal date, not when the payment is made. Renewals are permitted only within the 60-day window leading up to the renewal date and cannot be completed before that timeframe.

Transaction Fee Changes

Effective September 1, 2025, the transaction fee for each retail sale, lease, or fleet vehicle transaction will be adjusted to $22.00.

Dealers are required to remit this fee during the annual renewal process as follows:

  • Applications submitted on or before August 31, 2025, the fee will remain at $12.50.
  • Applications submitted on or after September 1, 2025, the fee will be set at $22.00.

Dealers are required to update their bill of sale formats and systems accordingly. Click here for details, including exemptions.

Why Fees Are Increasing

OMVIC continues to evolve to meet growing service demands and deliver on key priorities, including recommendations from the 2021 Auditor General’s Value for Money Audit. To support these initiatives and operate efficiently, OMVIC is adjusting fees. These updates are part of a broader effort to strengthen consumer protection and industry oversight in Ontario.
