Dealers and Salespeople participate in OMVIC’s Annual Meeting

OMVIC’s Annual Meeting brought together dealers, salespeople, members of the public, and industry stakeholders from across Ontario to reflect on the past year and recognize the service of an outgoing Board member. Participants heard remarks from the Honourable Stephen Crawford, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, who recognized OMVIC’s ongoing progress in advancing a fair and trusted motor vehicle marketplace in Ontario and strengthening confidence in the industry. 

The meeting also provided Dealer members with an opportunity to participate in OMVIC’s governance by electing representatives to the Board of Directors. Dealer members elected John Ulman as an Industry Director.

John is a seasoned automotive finance leader and innovator, currently serving as Director of Finance at Georgian Chevrolet Buick GMC, part of the CanadaOne Auto Group.

Congratulating Board leadership 

Following the Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors made several leadership appointments. The Board of Directors provides strategic leadership and governance oversight as OMVIC continues to protect consumers and support industry professionalism. Congratulations to Linda Franklin on her re-election to the Board as a Public Director and her reappointment as Vice-Chair. Congratulations as well to E. Patrick Shea on his appointment as Chair of the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee, and to Glen Padassery on his appointment as Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee.

Recognizing dedicated service 

OMVIC also extends its sincere appreciation to Sohail Ahmed, outgoing Industry Director, who concluded his service on the Board of Directors following the Annual Meeting. As former Secretary-Treasurer and Chair of the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee, Sohail Ahmed, played an important role in strengthening OMVIC’s financial oversight and stewardship, and we wish him all the best in the future.

The Annual Meeting also recognized the many staff whose planning and collaboration contributed to a successful event. Their service helps support the needs of OMVIC registered dealers and salespeople year-round.
