Beginning a career is an exciting time as new salespeople prepare to enter Ontario’s motor vehicle sales industry. OMVIC helps new registrants understand the responsibilities, expectations, and professional standards that come with joining the industry. This helps ensure that new registrants operate in compliance from day one, while maintaining the level playing field that existing OMVIC registered dealers and salespeople uphold.

OMVIC provides guidance, answers compliance questions, and offers educational resources to support registrants throughout their careers. By engaging with those joining the industry, OMVIC supports a smooth entry into a rewarding career, while reinforcing the standards of professionalism and compliance expected of all registrants.

Engaging with future registrants

OMVIC continues to engage directly with students and future industry professionals through networking and outreach opportunities throughout Ontario. Recently, OMVIC attended the Georgian College Auto Show’s Sponsor Networking Day, where our team engaged directly with over 150 students from the Automotive Business School of Canada (ABSC).

These events provide an opportunity for OMVIC to discuss industry expectations, reinforce the importance of compliance and professionalism, and share insights with future dealers and salespeople. They help students better understand the important role that OMVIC registered dealers and salespeople play in maintaining consumer confidence and upholding a fair marketplace.

Emphasizing professionalism from day one

Registered dealers and salespeople contribute to consumer trust and industry professionalism in motor vehicle sales across the province. Registration helps strengthen consumer protection and ensures that those trading in motor vehicles operate on a level playing field, within Ontario’s regulatory framework.

OMVIC supports registrants throughout their careers by providing onboarding guidance, answering compliance questions, and offering educational resources and continuing education opportunities. Registrants are required to uphold a Code of Ethics by operating with honesty, integrity, transparency, and professionalism while complying with Ontario’s motor vehicle sales laws and consumer protection requirements.

Support beyond registration

Registration is only the beginning of a registrant’s professional journey. OMVIC continues to provide dealers and salespeople with compliance tips, webinars, and continuing education resources designed to help registrants stay informed throughout their careers.

As OMVIC continues to meet with students and future registrants at networking and outreach events, the team remains focused on engaging the next generation of dealers and salespeople entering the marketplace. By helping new registrants understand their responsibilities early, OMVIC supports a consistent standard of professionalism across Ontario’s motor vehicle sales industry.
