OMVIC currently has a vacancy for a Compliance Coordinator for our Toronto corporate office.
Who is OMVIC:
OMVIC (Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council) is Ontario’s vehicle sales regulator. OMVIC enforces the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act and other consumer protection statutes for the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement. OMVIC’s mandate and role is to maintain a fair and informed marketplace by protecting the rights of consumers, enhancing industry professionalism, and ensuring fair, honest, and open competition for registered motor vehicle dealers. This is achieved by maintaining strict dealer/salesperson registration requirements; inspecting all Ontario dealers (new and used); providing free complaint handling to consumers; developing/delivering consumer and dealer education/awareness programs; and investigating and prosecuting industry non-compliance and illegal sales (curbsiding).

Position Information:
- Reports to: Director, Compliance
- Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000 annually
- Work Model: Hybrid – requirement of 2 days per week/8 days per month in office. All duties carried out remotely must be completed from the employee’s approved home office within Ontario.
Position Summary:
The Compliance Coordinator reviews complex compliance files by compiling all completed materials, analyzes registrant compliance and enforcement history, and will present the file for further regulatory compliance review.
Responsibilities:
- Review complex compliance files and ensure completeness, accuracy, and quality.
- Collect, verify, and synthesize evidence to assess registrant compliance.
- Compile case briefs and maintain Bring Forward functionality for file readiness.
- Apply MVDA and related legislation in breach analysis.
- Assess registrant history and present findings to senior management.
- Liaise with legal and other departments for administrative reviews and evidence alignment.
- Testify in administrative proceedings and at the Licensing Appeals Tribunal (LAT) as required.
- Communicate with the Compliance team on additional documentation needs.
- Maintain strong knowledge of MVDA and consumer protection laws (e.g., Consumer Protection Act, Sale of Goods Act).
- Provide guidance to team members and assist with compliance duties as needed.
- Adhere to corporate policies and deliver high standards of service.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Diploma/degree in regulatory compliance, public administration, law, criminology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years’ experience in regulatory compliance casework.
- Hands-on experience preparing decision-ready case briefs.
- Excellent knowledge of MVDA and related legislation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing environments.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong team attitude.
- Customer service orientation and troubleshooting ability.
