OMVIC will introduce a $99* Continuing Professional Development (CPD) fee for its in-house courses when CPD launches on April 1, 2026.

After a thorough review and consultation with stakeholders, the organization finalized the structure of the CPD fee for OMVIC’s in-house courses to support the launch of continuing professional development.
*OMVIC is awaiting guidance from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as to whether the CPD in-house courses is subject to harmonized sales tax (HST). An update will be provided once guidance from CRA is received.
CPD Fee and Renewal Requirements
The CPD fee for OMVIC’s in-house courses is separate from the registration renewal fee. It will be payable up to 90 days before a registrant’s renewal date, starting with renewal dates on July 1, 2026. Please check the OMVIC portal for your CPD requirement.
Your CPD requirement will be one of the following, and you are only required to pay the fee associated with the requirement you must complete:
- If your requirement is to complete “In-House Courses (OMVIC)”: Access these through the OMVIC portal, pay the fee (described above), and then complete the courses.
- If your requirement is to complete the “MVDA Key Elements Course (Georgian College)”: Access the course through Georgian College and pay the Georgian College fee (not an OMVIC fee). Completing the MVDA Key Elements Course fulfills your CPD requirement for your first renewal cycle on or after July 1, 2026. For your next renewal cycle, you will be required to complete OMVIC in-house courses and pay the associated fee described above. Learn more about checking your CPD requirement.
Rationale
CPD is a mandatory requirement for registration renewal. The CPD fee for OMVIC’s in-house courses has been set on a cost-recovery basis to support the delivery and administration of the CPD program that registrants must complete as part of their renewal.
Following completion of the comment period on October 8, 2025, the CPD fee for OMVIC’s in-house courses was confirmed by OMVIC’s Board of Directors in November 2025.
