OMVIC is now accepting applications from experienced leaders to serve on its Board of Directors.
Directors will be elected for three-year terms at OMVIC’s Annual Meeting in June 2026.
OMVIC is a not-for-profit corporation responsible for regulating motor vehicle sales in Ontario through administering and enforcing the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act, 2002 (MVDA) and its regulations. OMVIC’s mandate is to maintain a fair, safe, and informed marketplace for motor vehicle sales in Ontario.
The OMVIC Board oversees the effective administration of this mandate on behalf of Ontarians. Board members set strategic direction, provide financial and governance oversight, and act in good faith and in the best interests of OMVIC and the public.
The Board is made up of nine members: three elected from the motor vehicle sales industry, three from the general public, and three appointed by the Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement.

In addition to the general eligibility criteria above, Industry Candidates must:
Disciplinary history relating to registration as a motor vehicle dealer or salesperson does not disqualify an Industry Candidate, except as expressly set out above. Where applicable, publicly available disciplinary history relating to such registration will be disclosed in candidate biographies and election materials for transparency.
Public Director:
In addition to the general eligibility criteria above, Public Candidates must:
OMVIC is seeking applications from individuals whose skills, knowledge, and experience align with the Board’s Skills, Knowledge and Experience Profile.
All Board members must possess a positive orientation toward consumer protection initiatives.
Board members are elected at the Annual Meeting for a three-year term and may be re-elected, with total consecutive years of service capped at nine years. Board members attend six to eight in-person Board meetings annually (three hours each) and serve on at least one committee, which meets virtually six to eight times yearly (two and a half hours each). Additional commitments include 2–3 days per year for strategy or development sessions and time for meeting preparation. A minimum 75% attendance rate at Board meetings is required.
Board members receive per-diem compensation and reimbursement for reasonable expenses, subject to OMVIC’s Board Remuneration Policy and Travel and Meal Expense Reimbursement Policy

The application deadline is Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
The Governance and Nominating Committee, guided by the Director Nomination and Election Policy, will review the applications, and interviews may be conducted if required. The Committee will recommend a slate of candidates for approval by the Board of Directors. Once approved, the slate of candidates will be presented to dealer members for voting at OMVIC’s Annual Meeting.
