OMVIC announces appointments to the CAC and IAC following successful call for applications

Toronto, ON, January 3, 2024 – In June, the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) unveiled plans for a significant enhancement in its governance model, introducing a two-part advisory structure comprising the Consumer Advisory Council (CAC) and Industry Advisory Council (IAC). The primary goal of these councils is to provide independent advice to the OMVIC Board of Directors on issues of importance related to OMVIC’s mandate of consumer protection and enhanced industry professionalism.  

As part of the ongoing governance transformation, OMVIC has completed the call for applications process for both the CAC and the IAC. The applicants underwent a thorough screening process, including internal review, background checks and interviews.  

OMVIC is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela Lockridge and Jason Mayhew as inaugural chairs of the CAC and the IAC, respectively. Angela Lockridge is a Chartered Public Accountant with a wealth of executive leadership experience in the private and public sectors, including General Motors of Canada and the Ontario Public Service. Jason Mayhew is an OMVIC board member and Used Car Dealers Association (UCDA) member who brings over a decade of experience in the automotive sector, serving as the founder and leader of AutoAgents.  

The following individuals have been appointed to the CAC:

  • Adam Harvey, CPA, CA, ICD.D. 
  • George Iny 
  • Jay Jackson 
  • Anna Fitzsimmons, M.Ed., J.D. 
  • David Oikle, CPA, CA, ICD.D. 
  • Shari Prymak 
  • John Raymond 
  • Ruth Uy, P.Eng. 

These members possess diverse expertise and backgrounds and will provide valuable advice and insights in enhancing consumer protection in the motor vehicle sales sector.  

The following individuals have been appointed to the Industry Advisory Council and will serve alongside Hetash Singh, Associate Legal Counsel at the UCDA and Frank Notte, Director of Government Relations at the Motor Vehicle Retailers of Ontario: 

  • Jason Mayhew, Founder and Leader, AutoAgents, IAC Chair 
  • Michael Eatson, President, Peterborough Volkswagen Ltd. 
  • Emilio Gonzalez, Sales Consultant, Old Mill Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, GMC Ltd. 
  • John Kenny, Salesperson, G Cars Ltd. 
  • Ted Lancaster, Executive Vice President, 401 Group of Companies 
  • Rob Leggat, Managing Partner, Team Honda of Milton & Leggat Discovery Ford 
  • Zsolt Racz, General Sales Manager, That Car Place 
  • Lori Roberts, Secretary Treasurer, Park Lane Chevrolet Cadillac Ltd. 

These members, with diverse experiences spanning different levels within the automotive industry, will contribute valuable perspectives to the discussions on emerging issues and approaches to increasing industry awareness.

About OMVIC 

OMVIC has been delegated responsibility for administering and enforcing the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act (MVDA). OMVIC maintains a fair and informed vehicle sales marketplace by regulating dealers and salespersons, regularly inspecting Ontario’s 8,000 dealerships and 30,000 salespeople, maintaining a consumer support line for consumers and conducting investigations and prosecutions (or discipline proceedings) of industry misconduct and illegal sales (curbsiding). OMVIC is also responsible for administering the Motor Vehicle Dealers Compensation Fund on behalf of its Board of Trustees.
