OMVIC is currently searching for a Stakeholder Relations and Engagement Specialist for our Toronto corporate office.

Who is OMVIC?

OMVIC (Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council) is Ontario’s vehicle sales regulator. OMVIC enforces the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act and other consumer protection statutes for the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement. OMVIC’s mandate and role is to maintain a fair and informed marketplace by protecting the rights of consumers, enhancing industry professionalism, and ensuring fair, honest, and open competition for registered motor vehicle dealers. This is achieved by maintaining strict dealer/salesperson registration requirements; inspecting all Ontario dealers (new and used); providing free complaint handling to consumers; developing/delivering consumer and dealer education/awareness programs; and investigating and prosecuting industry non-compliance and illegal sales (curbsiding).

Role Summary:

The Stakeholder Relations and Engagement Specialist is responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of the stakeholder and industry relations strategy, helping to improve relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Strategic Relations, the Stakeholder Relations and Engagement Specialist acts as a liaison between stakeholders, supports strategic initiatives and leads the planning and execution of all consumer and industry events. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Manager, Communications and Strategic Relations to identify stakeholder engagement opportunities.
  • Prepare annual calendar of engagement opportunities and a quarterly stakeholder engagement calendar.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute events, consumer webinars, conferences, trade shows, public forums, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Support stakeholder and engagement plans, including presentations, speaking notes, and briefing materials.
  • Serve as a point of contact for stakeholders and identify emerging stakeholder issues and develop proactive strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with event organizers, community groups, partners, sponsors, vendors, and attendees.
  • Manage event logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, event registrations, and setup.
  • Oversee onsite event operations during business hours, evenings, or weekends.
  • Coordinate and train employee volunteers for consistent execution at events.
  • Facilitate administrative processes of contracts and agreements.
  • Measure success of events and stakeholder interactions through feedback and performance metrics.
  • Analyze impact of events on stakeholder and consumer engagement and provide post-event reports and recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 years demonstrated experience in relationship building, stakeholder management and event planning
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field
  • Detail-oriented and excellent time management skills
  • Strong judgement and political acuity
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communications skills with a proven ability to build trust and foster collaboration
