Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the IT Operations Manager plans, organizes, oversees, coordinates, and reviews the activities and operations of the Information Technology Department.  The IT Operations Manager understands company and department level strategies and defines an IT architecture that enables and supports those strategies. The IT Operations Manager will design, advise, consult, implement and test all IT architecture tools and methodologies to accelerate OMVIC’s strategy and to enable a high-performance, flexible, robust, and forward-thinking IT environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Office 365 framework.
  • Manage the on premise and Azure IT infrastructure including cyber security.
  • Manage the help desk ticketing system.
  • Manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans and procedures.
  • Manage asset inventory levels, asset performance monitoring, and asset lifecycles.
  • Review all technology purchases ensuring value for money which also includes vendor management and conducting RFQ’s and RFP’s in accordance with procurement policy.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assess and monitor workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform departmental and organization-wide systems analysis and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Write or review policies, procedures and documentation or reviews documentation written by others.
  • Implement adopted information technology plans, policies, and standards.
  • Provide second-level Helpdesk support.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in computer science, software engineering, or computer engineering, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in a technical support position, including at least 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience configuring and supporting an Office 365 tenant.
  • Minimum 5 years experience configuring and supporting an Azure tenant as well as experience with PowerShell Scripting
  • Minimum 2 years of staff supervisory experience in an IT Management role
  • Microsoft Certifications around MS 365, Azure and Security are preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of service level agreements and customer service standards.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to convey concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
