For 25 years, the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) has functioned as the province’s vehicle sales regulator and played a vital role in the lives of consumers. The organization’s mandate is to be the trusted voice to consumers and set the standards for the 8,000 registered car dealers and 30,000 salespeople in Ontario.

Reporting to the Chief Consumer Protection Officer, the Director of Communications and Public Affairs will lead the Communications Department.

As a member of the senior management team, the Director will contribute to organizational planning and operations. Responsibilities include developing and delivering messages to diverse audiences, enhancing OMVIC’s reputation, and fostering effective stakeholder relationships, including the media.

The Director will oversee a team of managers and staff that delivers on all aspects of communications: internal and external communications, branding, reputation, events, and meetings as well as content and delivery for automotive education programs. They are also active in board and government relations, issues management and media relations. It’s a busy team that needs an experienced and empathetic leader who brings a combination of big-picture perspective and roll-up-the-sleeves pragmatism.

This is a permanent role that comes with a competitive compensation package including a generous employer paid benefits package, retirement savings and professional development. The office is at Don Mills and Eglinton with a hybrid work schedule.
